Mission Statement

In fidelity to the gospel call to love others as Christ loves us, the goal of our CUA mission trips is to share in and learn from the lived experience of our brothers and sisters around the world.

By sharing in the faith, work and culture of those who welcome us, this experience becomes a life-changing moment in the participants’ spiritual, educational and mental formation.

This experience challenges participants to integrate the values of the Gospel and the social teachings of the Church into their lives and to encourage change in the lives of those around them.

History
Every year approximately 65 CUA students spend their spring break or two weeks during their summer break to volunteer in cities across the country and world. Through these various service opportunities, the students have the privilege to meet, serve, and be welcomed by the poorest of the poor. Hearts are changed, eyes are opened, and the desire to serve is ignited.

The first mission trip began in the summer of 2001, when a group of students went to Guatemala to help in the local schools and farms. Since then, trips have included Mission Jamaica, Mission Panama, Habitat for Humanity Hawaii, Mission Belize, Mission Honduras, and Mission Tanzania.

Students apply and are selected to serve on the various Mission trips offered by the Campus Ministry Office. In addition, students can volunteer through Habitat for Humanity's Alternative Spring Break opportunties. For more information about these trips, please check out the specific trip webpages.
